Horton Hears From You! A call-in talk radio show discussing things affecting Bandon citizens whether local, state, national or world events. Locally-produced by Avery Horton – shoot him an email and let him know what you want discussed!

From the words of the immortal Dr. Seuss:

Horton the Elephant represents kindness, trustworthiness, and perseverance–all wrapped up, thank goodness, in a comical and even absurd package.

Horton hears a cry for help from a speck of dust, and spends much of the book trying to protect the infinitesimal creatures who live on it from the derision and trickery of other animals, who think their elephant friend has gone quite nutty. But worse is in store: an eagle carries away the clover in which Horton has placed the life-bearing speck, and “let that small clover drop somewhere inside of a great patch of clovers a hundred miles wide!”

Horton wins in the end, after persuading the “Who’s” to make as much noise as possible and prove their existence. A comical classic in which we discover that “a person’s a person, no matter how small.”

4/14/24 – The Campaign for Oregon’s Estuaries

We often think of the land and the sea as separate worlds that have little to do with each other. But that barrier is much more fluid and interconnected than many people realize. We’ve talked on this program before about what folks call the ‘Land-Sea Connection’, and today we’re going to talk about the ‘connection’ piece of that equation, estuaries! Estuaries are where the land and sea meet and intermingle, and are some of the most productive ecosystems in the world. To talk all about the campaign to protect and restore Oregon’s estuaries, I’m joined by Annie Merrill of Oregon Shores.Research Links/Show Notes:
