Jan Spencer is a 30 year resident of Eugene, Oregon. His focus of interest is a fusion of economics, permaculture, urban restoration, social uplift and care for the natural world. Jan’s ideal is a society and economic system that exist within the boundaries of the natural world and brings out the best in positive human potential. Jan has been transforming his quarter acre suburban property for over 20 years and he is a board member of his neighborhood association. Jan has lived outside the US for five years and travelled to over 35 countries. He has surfed competitively and is an Italiaphile. Jan’s website has detailed “how to” content about transforming a suburban property, many before and now pictures, essays, podcasts, adventures and links to videos on youtube.

Latin Waves covers local/national and international issues salient to the vast majority of the population. Our stories make the critical political connections that enable a deeper understanding in our audiences. We bring our listeners in-depth coverage of issues with a focus on the historical context, the socio and economic impact to our communities, and most importantly what are the alternatives.

Our goal is to engage citizens in order to promote agency as we learn what other communities sometimes with scarce resources have been able to accomplish. In short, how can we move society forward in a healthy way, that’s inclusive, equitable and sustainable.
